I’ve always been put off by Christians who talk about the ‘blood of Christ’. That was until my friend took the time to show me what the Bible says.

I learned that my rescue from sin was not a simple thing. The Bible says it took the blood of the Son of God himself to wash away my sins and put me right with God.

In Hebrews 9:22 I discovered that without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins. “…and without shedding of blood is no remission.”

In 1 Peter 3:18 I discovered that Jesus, although innocent, died for the sins of all us guilty sinners that he might bring us safely home to God. “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God.”

In Colossians 1:13,14 I discovered that Jesus bought our freedom with his blood and forgave us all our sins. “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins.”

In Colossians 1:20 I discovered that Jesus’ death on the cross has made peace with God for all who believe. “Having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things
unto himself…”

In 1 John 1:7 I read that the blood of Jesus cleanses us completely. “the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”

I discovered that my part in this plan of salvation was to turn from my sin, accept what Jesus did on my behalf, and give my heart to him.

Now I know why Christians sing about the precious blood of Jesus. Without it, there is no salvation.
