How I Found the Abundant Life (#281)
Bible version used: NKJV
TITLE: How I Found the Abundant Life
I trusted Jesus to deliver on His promise of abundant life.
I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. . . I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. John 10:9-11
I came to Jesus and laid my life before him—all of it, even the stinky parts. I asked Him to wipe away my sins.
Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord. Acts 3:19
Jesus gave me a fresh start. My old friends noticed the difference in me—and some now shun me. My closest friend said it was like I was transformed.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17
Staying close to Jesus gives me an inner power and peace that surpasses whatever life circumstances I am facing. And because Jesus was raised from the dead, I no longer need fear death. Because of Jesus, my inheritance is secure.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, 1 Peter 1:3, 4
Because of my daily walk with Jesus, even in hard times I’ve never felt this safe.
You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy;
At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Psalm 16:11
Jesus helps me suppress the ‘wants’ that dominated my former life and still pop up. I always longed for a life of simplicity. Jesus shows me how.
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Psalm 23:1-3
Jesus has called me to a life of service. I was a little fearful at first but I have come to love it—because Jesus gives me everything I need to do what He wants.
And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:30, 31
If you want this abundant life, do what I did:
Turn to Him.
Confess your sins.
