Bible version used: KJV
If you are lonesome, you are
carrying a heavy burden.
God knows you are lonesome, and He cares about your suffering. He has the power to break your loneliness. He promises: “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” (Hebrews 13:5)
What a remarkable promise! No human would dare to make it because we know that we could not keep it.
God does not offer the help of others. He offers Himself! God holds
nothing of Himself from those who seek Him.
God held nothing back when He solved our greatest need. Our loneliness is one sign of our separation from God because of our sin. And God solved that problem by sending His only Son Jesus to earth to bear our sin on the cross. Jesus suffered the loneliness of hell on the cross so that we would not have to be eternally separated from God.
God offers His love and friendship. But He does not force Himself on anyone. His promises and His presence are only for those who seek Him and accept His offer of salvation by faith in His Son Jesus Christ. To those who trust Him God says: “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee.” (Isaiah 41:10)
Friends and family can give you comfort, but it does not last. Real comfort is the presence of God which is sufficient for every need. Believe on Him! Ask Him to come into your heart today!
God, I accept your offer of love and friendship. I confess that the only way I can be reconciled to you is through the sacriface of your only Son, Jesus Christ. Please come into my heart, take away my loneliness, and help me to be your child. Amen.
