Peace On Earth (#105)

#105 PEACE ON EARTH

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” (Luke 2:14)

Peace on earth? It doesn’t look like it. The world is full of conflict.

Since the angels’ announcement we have seen an endless string of wars.

The peace announced by the angels and brought by Jesus was very different than the end of war.

Jesus brought peace between us and God.

We are by nature opposed to God and cannot find the way back to God by ourselves. Without
God we are doomed to a life of conflict and distress.

But God sent His Son Jesus to make a way of return – to bring peace. Jesus is called the Prince of Peace because He brings peace to all who come to Him.
His name shall be called...the Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6)

God’s justice requires that satisfaction be made for the sins of rebellious people. This Jesus did
by His death on the cross.
Having made peace through the blood of His cross...You that were enemies...
hath He reconciled. (Colossians 1:20-21)

When a person believes and accepts this sacrifice, God forgives his sins and makes peace with
him.
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
(Romans 5:1)

When a person finds peace with God, war, illness and other distress will become merely a surface disturbance on a deep, calm sea.
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee. (Isaiah 26:3)

Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you.” (John 14:27)
Real peace is found only in Jesus. If you would like this peace, come to Jesus with sorrow for your sin and He will give you peace.

Jesus, I am sorry for my sin and come to You for forgiveness and peace. Make me into the person You want me to be. Amen.
