Tract Text:

I was afraid of what it would cost me to become a Christian. So I put it off. I wish I hadn't waited. When I put my life into Jesus’ hands, it cost me, but not in the way I expected.
•It cost me my worry. He replaced it with security even when I faced hard times. “I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security.” Jeremiah 33:6
•It cost me my aimlessness. He replaced it with purpose. “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:33
•It cost me my fear of death. He replaced it with the promise of eternal life. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
•It cost me my loneliness. He gave me a community of people who really love me. I call it my church, but it is like family. ”Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God” John 1:12
•It cost me my love for money. He replaced it with contentment and pleasure in simple things. “Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have.” Hebrews 13:5
•It cost me my boredom at work. I still work at the same place but my whole attitude has changed. I care about my fellow workers. I care about quality. Because I know God cares about me. “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31
This new life I received cost Jesus too. He paid for it with his life. “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us.” 1 John 3:16
Jesus saw what a sorry state mankind was in, and he left heaven to conduct a divine rescue for all who accept him. He suffered and died under the weight of all the sin of mankind so we could get back into a right relationship with our creator God. Jesus’ resurrection, celebrated on Easter, is a guarantee that all who willingly belong to him will likewise be raised to eternal life. “For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.” John 6:40

What does it cost to follow Jesus?
Plenty. But HE paid it.
