The Best Gift (#299)

What do you think you’ll get in your Christmas stocking this year?

Maybe some socks? Or a really big candy-cane?

Candy is great, but have you noticed how candy disappears so fast?

What would be a great Christmas gift if you were really sick? Wouldn’t you be excited if you found a note in your stocking telling you about medicine that would change your life–forever?

Well, that’s really what Christmas is about. It is a celebration of God’s plan to rescue us from sin. God’s plan has a name: Jesus.

The Bible tells us that our world is pretty sick because of sin. But God loves us so much he sent his only Son, Jesus to die on the cross to save us from sin. After giving his life for us, Jesus rose from the dead and now lives in heaven.

Jesus loves you more than you can ever imagine and he has a wonderful plan for your life.

When you open your heart to Jesus, amazing things happen. He takes your sins away. You don’t feel guilty anymore. You can face up to hard times.

When you open your heart to Jesus you want to do things that please him. You want to look out for the new kid in your school and you want to treat others with kindness.

If you invite Jesus into your heart you will discover that this little paper was the best gift you got this year. You might even want to share it with your best friend.

You can talk to Jesus anytime about anything. Here is a little prayer to invite Jesus into your heart.

Jesus, thank you for loving me and for dying on the cross for me. I want you to come into my heart. Forgive my sin and show me how to live for you. Amen
