The Gospel = Good News (#188)
Bible version used: NKJV
THE GOSPEL=GOOD NEWS
For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. John 3:17
What is the Gospel? The Gospel is Good News.
•That Jesus is the Son of God who came to begin his reign amongst us.
•That He suffered and died to pay the penalty of our sins.
•That He was raised from the dead and was seen by hundreds.
•That He returned to the right hand of the Father.
That is the core message of the Bible. It is all about Jesus: His move into our world and His victory over sin and death.
By his sacrifice, Jesus threw open the doors of heaven and paved the road for us to get back with the Father. We can go home again. We aren’t stranded on this planet, living in fear, trying to find hope and meaning.
Our stinking clothes of sin were taken by Jesus on the cross. His robe of perfection is ours to wear. Because of Christ we can stand in the presence of a holy God and bask in His love and affection.
Because Jesus rose from the dead and appeared to hundreds in His new body, we have hope that there is life beyond the grave.
When Jesus returned to His Father in heaven, we gain more:
He speaks to the Father on our behalf.
He is preparing a place for us so we can be with Him for eternity.
He sends the Spirit to help us in our daily lives.
Jesus’ love for all people continues. He is looking for faith; looking for belief; looking for a relationship with us; and looking for anyone who is willing to join Him in touching lives for good.
This is good news for a weary world. That is why it is called ‘The Gospel.’
There’s a catch.
These gifts from Jesus are only for those who believe.
I’m giving you this leaflet to encourage you to fall into the embrace of a living and reigning Jesus. Read the Gospel of John and you will see for yourself who Jesus is and how you can become one of His followers.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16
