God’s Word is the traveller’s map, the pilot’s compass, the pilgrim’s staff, the soldier’s sword, and the believer’s log.

The Bible contains light to direct you, comfort to console you, food to sustain you, wisdom to teach you, fire to warm you.

THIS BOOK REVEALS THE MIND OF GOD, THE STATE OF MAN,
THE WAY OF SALVATION.

Its Author is God,
Its writers were men,
It is infallibly inspired.

It is given you in life.
Opened in judgment,
And will endure forever.

It is a mine of wealth,
A river of pleasure,
A paradise of glory.

God’s glory is its end.
The Lord Jesus Christ
Is its wonderful Object
And our good its design.

Here Heaven opens,
Paradise is restored,
Hell’s gates are disclosed.

Its histories are true,
Its doctrines are holy,
Its precepts binding.

Read it thoughtfully,
Read it frequently,
Read it prayerfully.

Read it to be wise,
Believe it to be safe,
Practice it to be holy,
Memorize it to grow.

LIGHT: Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Psalm 119:105

SEED: The seed is the word of God. Luke 8:11

BREAD: . . . know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live. Deuteronomy 8:3

MILK: As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby. 1 Peter 2:2

MEAT: But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age. Hebrews 5:14

GOLD: More to be desired are they than gold. Psalms 19:10a

HONEY: Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Psalms 19:10b

SWORD: For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword. Hebrews 4:12

FIRE: Is not my word like as a fire? saith the Lord; Jeremiah 23:29a
