What A Book (#330)
Of the many books I have read, my all-time favorite is the book that reads me.
Its words penetrate to the core of my being, revealing the undercover secrets of my heart, the undisclosed motivations that drive me and the untapped potential lying dormant in the dust. Every time I open it, my life is challenged, encouraged, refreshed, rebuked, inspired or instructed.
The drama is rich with reality. The history is not only accurate but significant.
The characters are thoroughly real-warts and all. No fiction! And the message-well, it’s absolutely revolutionary!
This book is the all-time bestseller yet remains the best-kept secret. It is often cherished as a treasure, yet rarely opened to enjoy the bounty within. Throughout history it has been attacked, outlawed, burned and ridiculed. To this day it bears a social stigma and is, in many places, shunned or even banned.
All who muster the courage to open this dust-covered classic, however, will discover, as I did, truth that will change their lives. Unquestionably, the most important book I have ever read is the Bible. How did it change my life?
Before reading it I was self-centered, self-seeking, self-satisfied individual who was convinced I had everything life had to offer me. Unfortunately, my growing inner emptiness betrayed my outer confidence. The Bible helped me realize that without a personal relationship with my Creator, I was like a car without gas, a lamp without electricity, a train without a track.
The Bible introduced me to God. It tells me of His love and wonderful plan for my life; it clearly explains the most incredible transaction of all time—the payment for man’s sin by God’s Son; and it wisely directs me down the path where joy, peace, love and fullness of life abound.
The following words, taken from the Bible, serve as an accurate summary: “And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book: but these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through His name.” John 20:30-31 (KJV)
If you have not yet discovered the amazing life that God created you for, check out the Bible. You’ll never be the same.
